LAWEXCHANGE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME IN ACTION
19 October 2015
My name is Karolina Zak and I am a junior lawyer working for the SWS Strykowski Wachowiak law firm in Poznan, Poland. My firm became a member of the LawExchange International in 2015 and has been in regular contact with Hewitsons law firm since.LawExchange International is a group of independent law firms in a number of countries worldwide providing legal advice to clients within their countries. Its objective is to unite legal practices around the globe and offer an integrated group of law firms whose members provide their clients with specialist legal advice. As a result, I was able to engage in a two week secondment in Hewitsons in Cambridge. It was an unforgettable experience, which helped to enhance my legal knowledge while working alongside English lawyers. It was particularly enlightening for me, as I chose to study law in England, at the University of Southampton. The team in Cambridge was very helpful and supportive as regards all necessary arrangements. I was assigned to the Commercial Property Law Department for the first week of my secondment and to the Employment Law Department for the following week.I was involved in drafting documents, attending seminars and meetings with clients, conducting research, producing reports and writing articles about the developments of law in the areas of my interest (as mentioned above).I am extremely grateful for this experience and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work at Hewitsons over the past two weeks.I strongly advise young lawyers from member firms of LawExchange International, who may be offered the opportunity of a secondment to another member firm, to take part in one, as I have done. Karolina ZakFrom collaborating on client matters globally to working together locally, LawExchange International members work together in many ways. Click here to see more.
