Anna Mercado Clark to Participate at Robert H. Jackson Center Commemoration of 75th Anniversary of Korematsu v. U.S.

Jamestown, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle Partner Anna Mercado Clark will participate in “The Fight for Justice,” a two-day event on May 13th and 14th at the Robert H. Jackson Center commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Korematsu v. U.S. The event is presented by Phillips Lytle LLP, the Robert H. Jackson Center, and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY).On Monday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m., the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will present the documentary “Of Civil Wrongs and Rights: The Fred Korematsu Story.” Following the documentary will be the film “Snow Falling on Cedars.”On Tuesday, May 14th, the program continues at the Robert H. Jackson Center with a lecture by John Q. Barrett, Professor of Law at St. John’s University, Robert H. Jackson Center board member and Elizabeth Lenna Fellow. Phillips Lytle Partner, and Robert H. Jackson Center board member and co-founder, Gregory L. Peterson will interview Karen Korematsu, daughter of Fred T. Korematsu, and founder and executive director of The Fred T. Korematsu Institute. Additionally, there will be a trial reenactment of “Korematsu v. U.S.: Justice Denied,” a play written by U.S. Appellate Court Judge Denny Chin and based on the Korematsu case.The reenactment will feature:

  • Karen Korematsu, Daughter of Fred Korematsu

  • John Q. Barrett, Professor at St. John’s University School of Law

  • Denny Chin, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit

  • Thomas Loftus, Justice Jackson’s Grandson
