HEWITSONS RAISES £78,000 FOR CHARITY
26 January 2016
On Monday 25th January 2016 Hewitsons Charitable Trust (England) hosted the 2015 Chariots of Fire cheque presentation.
The presentation was attended by Graham Butland (Chief Executive) and Sam Lucking (Director of Income Generation) along with other representatives from the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. In addition to the race President Sir Michael Marshall, race Director Charles Hewitson, the Cambridge Mayor Cllr Robert Dryden and Chris Elliott of the Cambridge News.
In total £78,000 was raised thanks to all the efforts of over 2,280 runners from the 380 teams that took part in the race last September – much to the delight of the surprised charity. According to the charity the amount raised “will significantly help in the continued delivery of their high quality symptom management service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the provision of a team of specialist nurses”.
The EACH True Colours Symptom Management Team aims to ensure all life-threatened children, young people and their families have access to vital support and advice when they need it most. They provide families with choices to manage their child or young person’s healthcare needs and symptoms in a place of their choosing and work with families and local care professionals to develop individual symptom management plans.
The presentation was also attended by Dame Mary Archer, as representative of the team that raised the highest sponsorship amount, ‘The Great Dames’, with an impressive £6800.
This year’s race will be held on Sunday 18th September 2016 and will be officially launched in May 2016 when the next official charity has been selected by the trustees of Hewitsons Charitable Trust
