HISTORY-MAKING 300 IRISH ANGELS ATTEND HBAN’S ALL-ISLAND CONFERENCE

Flynn O’Driscoll were delighted to support the HBAN (Halo Business Angel Network) All-Island Business Angels Conference 2018 which took place on Thursday 8th February 2018 in the beautiful surrounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.HBAN is an all-island umbrella group responsible for the development of business angel syndicates on the island of Ireland.The event was designed to bring together new and existing business angels from across the island to learn, network and collaborate.The angel investing market in Ireland is estimated to be currently worth between €70 million and €120 million and the event and saw almost 300 current and prospective business angels in attendance. The interest garnered by the event was not unnoticed by John Phelan, national director, HBAN who said, “the number of people here today and the 21 new angels we’ve signed up before the conference in indicative of the interest in angel investment and a testament to the vibrant Irish start-up scene, as well as the number of high potential companies there are.”The firm’s Gavin Lawlor participated in a panel discussion titled “Making the Investment – Leveraging Angel’s Learnings” and Alan O’Driscoll hosted a workshop focusing on the key areas to be considered when drafting term sheets.Other speakers on the day included serial angel investors and entrepreneurs alike as well as representatives from the New York-based Digital Irish Angels Syndicate, HBAN’s first overseas partnership.
