At the close of the upcoming Spring conference of LawExchange International, to be held in Tokyo in late April 2016,the current Chairman, Eduardo Romeiro of Lautenschlager, Romeiro & Iwamizu of Sao Paolo, will retire and will hand over to his successor, Chris LovellChris Lovell has practised as a commercial lawyer in Melbourne, Australia for over 35 years. He has an Arts/Law degree from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Laws from the University of London (London School of Economics).He currently advises major industry superannuation funds and some of their collective investment vehicles on a wide range of corporate, governance and superannuation issues.Chris is currently chairman of national law firm Holding Redlich (Australia), having been national managing partner for 15 years.[caption id="attachment_3128" align="alignleft" width="200"] Chris Lovell[/caption]Chris is currently an independent director (and member of the finance committee) of the Clemenger Group, Australasia’s largest marketing communications group and deputy chairman of Barwon Water.He has held a number of other board positions. These include director of Film Victoria, chairman of Screen Australia the Australian government’s film investment company), trustee of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, deputy chairman (and chair of audit and risk management, property and heritage committees) of VicTrack (the owner of the state’s railway assets) and chairman of Australian Communities Foundation.Chris is very happily married to Maria McCarthy and has 2 grown up children.The fact that Chris, an Australian lawyer, will succeed Eduardo, a lawyer from Brazil, reflects the international reach of LEI.
