PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP TO HOST WATERLOO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TEAM AT FIRM’S NEW YORK CITY OFFICE
New York, N.Y. – Phillips Lytle LLP will host an economic development meeting with department heads from Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge – all from one of Canada’s leading high-tech regions. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 15 at Phillips Lytle’s New York City office, located at 340 Madison Avenue.Phillips Lytle attorneys and economic/business development representatives from the Canadian entities will discuss opportunities to support trade to, and attract investment from, New York City. Phillips Lytle Special Counsel Asaf Hahami and David E. Bronston will provide an overview of resources available through the Phillips Lytle Venture Capital Team and Communitech NYC Powered by Phillips Lytle.Phillips Lytle has been a leader in the start-up space, advising startups from across Southern Ontario, Upstate New York, and New York City. In 2011, Phillips Lytle partnered with Ontario, Canada-based innovation center, Communitech, where the law firm opened office space. In 2016, Phillips Lytle launched Communitech NYC Powered by Phillips Lytle, a workspace and incubator-extension for existing Communitech start-up companies and alumni to gain access to resources, business connections, customers, and funding opportunities in New York City. The arrangement with Phillips Lytle further connects Communitech and Canada’s entrepreneurial scene with New York City’s “Silicon Alley.”Mr. Hahami concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions, securities law matters, corporate finance, strategic alliances and joint venture transactions, technology licensing, and related general corporate and intellectual property matters. He provides legal services to both domestic and foreign clients, including institutional investors and funds, high net worth individuals, and public and private companies, as well as many startups, emerging businesses, founders, and entrepreneurs.Mr. Bronston focuses his practice on telecommunications infrastructure and has extensive experience with network licensing and the intersection of telecommunications infrastructure with real estate. He has represented public and private property owners nationwide in license agreements, right of way agreements, and other access agreements with telecommunications service providers. He has also represented all types of telecommunications service providers and carriers (with a particular expertise in Distributed Antenna System networks) in negotiating franchise agreements with local governments and obtaining all necessary legislative authorizations and administrative licenses, permits and approvals.
