As finance for film and TV projects becomes increasingly difficult to obtain, ‘official co-productions’ are growing in popularity as a project structure. One of the numerous benefits of an official co-production is that the project is treated as a national film in each of the co-producing countries, so the project can access both local and foreign incentives and subsidies. In Holding Redlich’s (Australia)  inaugural media law column for Inside Film magazine, we examine this international trend and outline what countries have arrangements in place with Australia for official co-productions.
