During 2015 August to September, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Preparations Management Co. Ltd. found that advertisements publicly selling commemorative coins in the name of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (“AIIB”) have been published in some major newspapers, magazines and websites. As the special legal counsel on intellectual property rights (“IPR”) of AIIB Preparations Management Co. Ltd., Zhong Lun (China) IPR team successfully handled the false advertisement issue and protected the reputation of AIIB. Previously, Zhong Lun IPR team has advised on the cyber-squatting of AIIB’s domain name www.aiib.org, and the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre eventually ruled that the respondent has no right over the domain name in dispute.AIIB was proposed as an initiative by PRC President Xi Jinping and supported by 37 regional and 20 non-regional members as the prospective founding members with its purpose on supporting infrastructure construction in the Asia-Pacific region. AIIB Preparations Management Co. Ltd. is a platform company of AIIB’s multilateral temporary secretariat and it is responsible for the preparation work for the formal operation of AIIB.
