Jillian Molz Discusses New Illinois Laws Protecting Job Applicants

Jillian Molz, a member of Gould & Ratner’s Litigation Practice, was recently quoted in a SHRM article that discusses new Illinois employment laws, including an amendment to the Health Care Worker Background Check Act. Jillian noted that before this amendment, the process of conducting a background check would begin after an offer of employment was made. If the background check revealed a conviction for a certain offense, then the offer could be terminated unless the applicant had obtained a waiver. The new law, expedites the process by allowing applicants with criminal records to obtain waivers before receiving a job offer. Read the full article here.
